Babe Ruth Memorabilia In The News

A few new Babe Ruth-related memorabilia items that have made the news that BabeRuthCentral was interested in sharing with our fans:

1. John Lackey is clearly very attached to the number 41. After joining the St Louis Cardinals last month, Lackey gave teammate Pat Neshek an authenticated Babe Ruth signed ball see below) in return for Neshek giving up his #41 jersey to the Cardinal pitcher. Not a bad deal for Neshek who apparently wasn’t too attached to the number!

2. One baseball card collector hit a mini lottery when he recently opened a pack of baseball cards. A gentleman from Lancaster County, PA discovered a Babe Ruth signature card within his package of Topps Museum Collection. He quickly turned around and put it up for auction and fetched $8,625 for the card. A pack tends to run around $50-$60 so not a bad investment!

3. Lastly, a set Babe Ruth signed bowling shoes go up for auction. Earlier this year, BRC showcased a unique Babe-related item from a fan – a pair of bowling shoes that once belonged to the current owner’s grandmother. The shoes were signed by the Babe, who was apparently a friend of the family. We recently helped the owner get the shoes to auction. Unfortunately, the autographs were a bit faded, but he still fetched $2830 for the pair.
