From a Fan: 1934 Ruth Japanese Tour Fan

Hey BRC Fans,

This is one of the more interesting pieces of Babe Ruth memorabilia that we’ve come across.   We were made aware of this item by its owner, who resides in Germany.  It’s a fan that is signed by the 1934 baseball team that visited Japan.  This is probably the coolest piece of memorabilia that we have seen related to that famous world tour.  So how did this piece from Japen make it’s way to Germany?  Here’s the story we got from its owner:

“I found it in my grandparents house. They had to move to a rest home and we have had to clear all the stuff in their house.  My grandma has dementia but she still knows how she got the fan.  In february there is a carnival in Germany and everybody dresses in costume.  My grandmother dressed up as a geisha and got a kimono and the fan from a neighbor as a gift.  The neighbor was a wife of a diplomat and was with her husband and joined him in watching one of the baseball games where she got the fan with the autographs.”

Awesome piece and a great background story!  Check out images of the signed fan below.
